Biashara Karatasi is the largest and longest-running news source in the Sabmadi Republic, originally operating as a business-based paper magazine, and today covering almost every topic: from politics to trade, technology, culture, fashion, entertainment, health and sports.
When the Sabmadi colony first began to develop on the hostile surface of Ziva, resources were scarce, therefore only handed out to those would need it for vital construction, defense, or humanitarian projects. With heavy policing of available resources, the problem of individuals receiving resources to hand off to others, especially rations and technology, the provisional government in place sought to create a system to record all of these trades. Based on the Swahili word, such was the birth of Biashara Karatasi, or "The Trade Papers."
Growing over time due to Sabmadi's natural inclination to trade and business, the Trade Papers became a place where the beginnings of merchants would exchange notes, handle discussions, and spread local news that may otherwise take days to reach the main colonial site.
Rapidly taking notice of this, the Trade Papers created a dedicated section for news reporting and discussion. Over time, as resources became less scarce and colonial installments solidified into homes and cities, the Trade Papers became a site dedicated to news sharing, and expanded to have its own offices and boards to display articles and stories.
Re-organizing itself into a private entity in late 35 A.L., but keeping the original name, BK still adheres to its values of fact-based reporting, with special emphasis on business, trade, and politics, the cornerstones of its foundation.
Growing to encompass almost every subject, BK remains Sabmadi's largest news source, and its longest running, and is expanding its reporting at the Confederacy Senate and opening offices outside its Tonderay-based headquarters, growing closer to the Sabmadi government while doing so.
