A Sabmadi government ship from the Office of Criminal Justice and Welfare was the recipient of a possible attempted ramming earlier today. The Office reported that the ship was transporting suspected Vrul Salvation League (VSL) officials during the incident.

The perpetrator in the incident was an unmarked freighter, which passed close by to the Sabmadi ship at high speed before entering the atmosphere of Ziva. The freighter appears to have been completely destroyed by reentry heating. The cause of the freighter’s abnormal behavior has yet to be officially determined, and it is unclear at this time whether anyone was on board during the incident.
Following the conclusion of the Vrul War, a number of members of the former VSL leadership fled Torix to avoid trial at the Tribunals. Unfortunately, Sabmadi appears to have been the destination for several of these fugitives due to its vast land area and relatively low population density. Sabmadi authorities continue to occasionally find VSL fugitives in the outlying rural areas of the republic. Policy requires extradition of any suspected VSL politicians to the Vrul Republic, at which point they are transported to Vrul-Ho Station to stand trial at the Tribunal.
A recent bombing in downtown Tonderay also appeared to target a former VSL official who was being transported by police through the area. This suspected assassination attempt also failed.
Following an investigation, Tonderay Police determined that the bomb, hidden beside the road, was meant to be activated acoustically as the target vehicle was passing by. Luckily, the detonator activated prematurely - apparently the result of filmmaker Maximiliano Gangopadhyay’s enthusiastic oration in a nearby park ahead of the premiere of his latest film.
No links between the two incidents have been officially announced by investigators, nor has any group publicly come forward claiming responsibility for either incident at this time. No injuries were reported in either event.
