After unexpectedly announcing his intention to run for Chancellor in the upcoming election, Senator Tahan hit the ground running on Tuesday by revealing a number of key policy goals for his administration during his first major campaign event.

Tahan’s campaign centers on the theme that the galaxy is changing around Sabmadi, resulting in the need for a more reactive leader.
During a public address, the senator spoke about issues in the Antares legislature, saying:
“more radical voices have been seen in the senate. Long-standing allies have become distant and old rivals look more like friends. Wars have broken out and technology has changed the very world we knew. Sabmadi has been transformed thanks to the hard work of our current chancellor. It has been improved. But I believe it is time for new leadership.”
Tahan believes that we should strengthen our existing ties with Embasora, who has been a steadfast friend throughout our shared history. He also supports deepened ties with Retiva and Chengatai and normalization of our troubled relations with Thanh-Jenal.
As for our Zivan neighbors, Tahan supports the Lin administration’s current sanctions. “Until Tehnali has fixed its constitution, had its elections, and its new Chancellor has publicly denounced their senators’ libelous accusations, relations between our countries will remain tense and our interactions limited.”
Tahan further denounced the warmongering that has grown more prevalent among the representatives in the Antares National Assembly. “I would see Sabmadi stand among those who speak out against the misuse of our most sacred values to start wars of aggression. But I would also rebuff those who would use so-called ‘wars of liberation’ to instead annex territory.”
Tahan then turned his focus to the issues facing Sabmadi at home. He called for investigation into the claims made by the group known as the Antiestablishmentarianists. “If they have merit,” Tahan said, “then we shall act to rectify the injustices to which these activists have brought so much attention. But if these allegations have been fabricated, then the ringleaders can expect to see our Justice Department in court.”
He also spoke to the rise of xenophobic sentiments among some parts of Sabmadi society. “These anti-alien groups are clearly misguided individuals. I call upon all of our citizens to talk to these people, listen to them, argue with them to show them that their fear is unfounded. But do not censor or ignore them for that will only lead them deeper in their beliefs.” However, he also resolved that those who have committed acts of terror will be brought to justice.
Tahan then addressed the recent deaths of a number of prominent Sabmadi officials, including Director Tenga, Director Q, and Press Secretary Po:
Each of them greatly contributed to the Sabmadi of today. We will find those responsible for their deaths and root out anyone involved. They will be tried and punished to the highest extent of our laws.
These events, and others, show that Sabmadi is no longer the place that it was. That saddens me. But I know that once a change has been made, one cannot go back to the old. Therefore I will do my best to lead Sabmadi into the future, so that our nation will continue to be a place our children and grandchildren are proud to call home.
